No one probably could have imagined that a small-town boy from the Appalachians, who didn’t even own a computer, would create such a pivotal novel.
Gibson was influenced by several authors including the 1940′s noir fiction writer Dashiell Hammett who was featured in the previous post.

Just as Jules Verne is remembered for predicting technology such as submarines and helicopters years before being invented, William Gibson will be remembered one day for writing about jacking in and neural implants years before civilization embraced the technology. Not only did William Gibson coin the term “cyberspace“, he wrote a novel that has now entered the literary canon of great American literature.
